The lengths of two parallel chords of a circle are 6 cm and 8 cm. If the radius is 5 cm, and chords are on the same side of the center, find the distance between them.
A1 cm
B2 cm
C7 cm
D14 cm
✓ Correct Answer: A — 1 cm
Distance to 8cm chord = sqrt(5^2-4^2)=3. Distance to 6cm chord = sqrt(5^2-3^2)=4. Distance between = 4 - 3 = 1 cm.
